Development Team Ships Initial Product to World’s Largest MI Retailer

SEATTLE, Wash. (January 6, 2011) – Most music and pro-audio retail stores feature demo rooms stocked with multiple PA speaker brands for customers to audition. America’s Guitar Center retail chain was looking for a way to streamline the customer experience and reduce the need to open stock amplifiers to power their demo systems. Seattle-based 2JW Design was contracted to design and build a speaker switcher that would reduce the stores’ use of stock equipment and improve the customer demo experience. As a result, the SS08HP High-Power Speaker Switcher was created and, now that the first 1000 have been delivered to Guitar Center, the product and its sister, the SS16HD, is available to retailers worldwide.
“As far as I’m concerned, the guys at 2JW knocked it out of the park!” Exclaimed Guitar Center’s Visual Design Manager, Vince Rowland. “Having searched extensively for a partner to design hardware solutions necessary for our demo room improvements, we were excited to see the initial 2JW proposal. They worked closely with our in-store staff to fine tune the specification, met aggressive cost targets and delivery schedules. We are delighted with the end result.”
“The SS08HP will allow retail stores to use a single, high-power amplifier to drive multiple passive speakers. The digitally controlled switcher utilizes high quality analog relays and is rated to handle multiple kilowatts per channel for easy integration with either passive or active PA speaker systems,” explained 2JW’s James Woodburn. “Our second model, the SS16HD, is designed for use with studio monitors and hifi speakers. In addition to digital switching control, it features a volume control, level matching and a front panel iPod interface.”
Both the SS08HP and SS16HD are manufactured in the USA and are currently available for sale directly to retailers via the 2JW website, www.2jwdesign.com , or through international distributors.
